Student Volunteer Program

Calling all local high school students! Looking to complete your community service hours in a meaningful way? Join our Student Volunteer Program!

At the sanctuary, we provide a refuge for animals who have endured neglect, abuse, and abandonment. Volunteering with us isn't just about spending time with animals—it's about making a profound difference in their lives. We are seeking compassionate, dedicated students to join our team and help us offer the care and rehabilitation these animals deserve.

This is not a leisurely visit to a petting zoo. It is an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to our mission of rescue and recovery. As a volunteer, you'll engage in vital tasks that ensure the well-being and health of our residents. If you're ready to work hard and impact lives, we welcome your commitment to service
at our farm!

3 EASY STEPS TO ENROL

Feel free to send an email to PLFSvolunteers@gmail.com if you have any questions prior to enroling!

STEP #1

CREATE YOUR VOLUNTEER ACCOUNT

STEP #2

SIGN UP FOR YOUR FIRST VOLUNTEER SHIFT

Please sign up under "Animal Care Team: Morning Shift" on a day that suits you best! Our volunteer shifts run daily from 9AM -12PM.

Leave a note in the comments saying "first student shift" and we will be in touch with you via email prior to your first shift :)

STEP #3

DIVE IN: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW FOR YOUR FIRST SHIFT

WHAT TO WEAR

Wear comfortable, active and weather appropriate attire that you don't mind getting dirty (it's a a farm!)

WHAT TO BRING

Bring water to stay hydrated and work gloves if you have any! Please don't forget your school volunteer form for us to sign.

WHERE TO PARK

When you first arrive at the sanctuary, look for the driveway nestled between the forest with a little library by the entrance. Drive all the way down the driveway. You can park at the end by the house just before the hill.

WHERE TO MEET

Walk up the hill and wait by the gate. Larry the sanctuary co-owner and other volunteers will meet you there there around 9AM. Make sure to introduce yourself as a new volunteer in the Student Program :)

WHAT TO EXPECT

Larry will first show you how to check in/out at the kiosk to log your volunteer hours (12 hours to complete the program). You'll then be given a little tour around the farm to meet our farm friends. Finally, you'll be assigned a more experienced volunteer to shadow for your first shift. You'll learn in depth about our daily routine of caring for 180+ animals! Please note the work is generally physical in nature.
